Description

  • platinum, gold, ruby, emerald, enamel, silk
The black silk evening bag completed by a clasp applied with white enamel, decorated with scrollwork motifs set with single-cut and round diamonds weighing approximately 5.90 carats, further set with carved and cabochon emeralds, carved rubies and ruby beads, measuring approximately 5¾ by 5½ by 2¼ inches, frame indistinctly signed Cartier.

Condition

In good condition. The interior to the bag frame shows abrasion and scratches from normal rubbing, the signature to the interior appears on the back portion of the frame in the center towards the bottom. The white enamel shows losses on the left side of the frame, not visible from the front, as well as a single hairline crack to the front, top right corner. The medium to medium dark purplish red rubies display some evident surface abrading; with the ruby beads on the handle displaying significant abrasions to the surface. The medium bluish green emeralds also display surface abrading consistent with normal wear. The diamonds are predominantly of decorative quality. The bag can be opened by lifting clasp up and turning it to the right to pop to lock of the clasp. The inside frame is indistinctly signed Cartier, but the satin bag is likely a later added replacement.
