The openwork plaque of floral design with carved flowerheads composed of turquoise and lapis lazuli, with leaves and accents set with green chalcedony, rubies and sapphires, further set with variously-cut diamonds weighing approximately .95 carat, signed Charlton; circa 1930.
Condition
In good condition. The back of the brooch clip shows minor scratches and some light abrasion. The carved green chalcedony is a translucent medium light bluish green hue and are well carved. The carved lapis lazuli flowers display a strong, even blue hue. The turquoise flowers display an even, light bluish green hue, with visible repair to one of the petals of the bottom flower. The rubies range from light purplish red to medium red and are moderately included. The sapphires display a slightly watery violet-blue hue and are moderately included. The diamonds are approximately H-J color, SI clarity.
