The brooch of swirled floral design, set with round diamonds weighing approximately .45 carat, accented by round rubies and turquoise cabochons, the earclips of similar design, set with round diamonds weighing approximately .50 carat, accented by round rubies and turquoise cabochons, unsigned; 1940s. With box stamped W John Rubel Co.
Condition
All pieces in good condition. The diamonds are approximately G-I color, predominantly VS clarity. The rubies are a medium to medium-deep pinkish red, lightly to moderately included with a few examples of surface-reaching inclusions, only visible under magnification. The opaque turquoise cabochons range in color from medium blue to medium greenish blue, a few stones exhibiting matrix and color mottling, not evident when worn. Gross weight of brooch approximately 32 dwts, gross weight of earclips approximately 10 dwts. Dimensions of brooch approximately 3 inches by 2 3/4 inches, length of earclips approximately 1 inch each. According to the consignor, these pieces are formerly from the granddaughter of John Rubel, who received the pieces from her grandfather.
