Condition
Overall in good condition. With four extension leaves. The wooden surfaces present with wide variations ranging from blond to rich mahogany. This remarkable table displays beautiful carving to the legs and base and a delicate marquetry to the top. The top has been very sensitively restored, along the edges, center and marquetry decoration, which is only visible upon close inspection. The top is in very good condition, with minor surface scratches and minor edge abrasions consistent with age and gentle use. The base with a few minor scratches, minor abrasions and minor surface dirt to the recessed areas consistent with age and gentle use, and with a few minor losses to the carved flowers, not at all visually disruptive. The top is not attached and only rests on the bars. Each of the four leaves is numbered and adds 15 3/8 in. in length. The leaves have been refinished and present with a slightly redder hue than the table top. They present with a few minor surface scratches, minor old restorations and a few minor evidences of white house paint. A superb table that won the silver medal at the 1900 Paris Exposition and that combine harmonious, delicate decoration, robust design and exquisite craftsmanship. -----
