Condition

Overall in good condition. The chairs’ leather and wood display tones of rich mahogany and coffee browns, which are very harmonious and less red than in the catalogue illustration. The wooden structures of the chairs are beautifully carved with dynamic details. The wooden surfaces with minor surface scratches, edge abrasions and light surface dirt to the recessed portions of the design, consistent with age and gentle use. The structures with some sensitively undertaken restorations concentrated to the corners and only visible upon close inspection. The lower portions of the feet with minor discoloration, minor abrasions and expected surface soiling. The structures of the chairs have been sensitively reinforced, and the chairs are stable. The leather is original and presents with an exquisitely embossed apple blossom motif that complements the dynamic shape of the chairs. The leather surfaces with some scratches, light scuffs, surface dirt, areas of discolorations, some staining and gentle crazing consistent with age and use and visible in the catalogue illustration. All brass tacks are present and emphasize the chairs’ graceful contours. The leather to the back of the chairs present with wear and discoloration consistent with age and use. The back of three chairs with very sensitively restored tears, only visible upon close inspection. A wonderful set in great condition that beautifully complement the Apple Blossom dining table (lot 41). -----
