Description

  • François-Xavier Lalanne
  • Console
  • impressed LALANNE FXL 1/1 2003
  • gilt bronze and glass

Provenance

Acquired directly from the artist by the present owner, 2003

Condition

Overall in excellent original condition. The patina presents with a slightly more subtle metallic gold when seen in person than in the catalogue illustration. The upper back edge of the top is slightly curved convexly which adds depth and dynamism to the console by keeping the two lateral feet further from the wall. Four of the leaves at the back of the console with holes to attach the console table to the wall if needed. The bronze surfaces present with minor surface scratches, a few minute abrasions and minor dirt to the recessed areas consistent with age and gentle use. The glass surfaces with minor surface scratches consistent with gentle use. The casting presents with wonderful naturalistic details highlighting the intricacy of the vegetal form. A console table that is unique in its scale and that presents a compelling link between Francois-Xavier and Claude Lalanne’s works. -----
