Condition

Overall in very good original condition. When seen in person, the chandelier displays a rich dark green patina throughout which contrasts beautifully with the white alabaster. The patinated surfaces with minor rubbing to the highest point of the design, concentrated to the lower edge and the terminal of the beak. The patina with very minor surface scratches, minute abrasions, minute evidences of oxidation and surface dirt to the recessed portions of the design consistent with age and gentle use. The alabaster appears to be original and is in very good condition, with a few minor surface scratches consistent with age and gentle use. The alabaster of the mount with minor yellowing consistent with age and gentle use. Each of the alabaster panel insets of the wings are marked, with letters for the proper right side of the heron and numbers for the proper left side. Each panel with a delicate curve that further enhance the graceful aspect of the bird. The two panels on each side with a small intentional taper to fit in the bronze structure. The alabaster panels with a few scattered discolorations from heat and a few minor abrasions to the edges, not visible when the alabaster is inserted in the bronze. Three very minor and sensitively undertaken restorations, only visible upon close inspection. A wonderful example of a graceful and elegant design by Albert Cheuret. -----
