Description
- Nephrite
of quatrelobed form, the white stone worked with straight tapering sides rising from a countersunk base to a straight-cut rim, the interior decorated in high-relief with two fish, one larger than the other, their fins and tails finely rendered with incisions, the boys depicted clambering on the exterior of the vessel, each with one hand on the rim, one of them supporting himself by holding one leg of the frog resting on the rim, the stone of an even white colour mottled with milky inclusions

Condition
In overall good condition. There are natural areas of abrasion from original flaws in the stone. There are minute nicks to the mouthrim, footrims and the boys, the largest measuring approx. 0.5 cm. There are also minute nicks to the extremities of the relief carving on the interior, the largest measuring 0.5 cm. to the fish's body. The actual colour of the jade is greener than the catalogue illustration.
