Description

well carved in the form of a recumbent deer resting on a large plantain leaf with its head turned back and facing its young resting by its side, both animals grasping a long lingzhi stem in their mouths, the translucent stone of an even white colour with faint russet inclusions

Christie's Hong Kong, 27th October 2003, lot 822.
Condition
In overall good condition with just minor nicks to the extremities, including the edges of the leaves and lingzhi blooms, as well as the tip of the deer's horns, the largest measuring 0.8 cm to the edge of the leaf behind the larger deer. The actual colour of the jade is similar to the catalogue illustration.
