potted as a luduan standing foursquare with its head turned upwards and mouth wide open revealing its teeth and a hollow body, its head with a long curved horn flanked by small pointed ears, the body with raised curved lines and raised bosses simulating a well pronounced spine, the tail skilfully rendered to simulate three tufts of hair, applied overall with a greyish-blue glaze thinning to a brown colour at the extremities, wood stand, Japanese double wood box

Condition

The tip of the rear horn has been restored with overpaint (extending to approx. 0.6 cm from the tip). The overall condition is otherwise quite good with only some occasional burst air bubbles, as well as potting and firing irregularity, especially to the unglazed feet. The actual colour is brighter and more yellowish than the catalogue illustration.
