  • nephrite
the first of flattened rectangular form, skillfully carved and pierced with a dragon and phoenix coiling around the central aperture, finely incised on both sides with scrolling designs, the translucent stone of an even white tone with some white inclusions; the second of flattened oval form, carved in openwork with a stylized dragon and phoenix addorsed in reversal, accentuated with incised details, the mottled stone of opaque grayish color with black inclusions (2)

Condition

Both plaques are in good overall condition. There is expected wear to the surface consistent with age. The color of both jades is a bit more celadon green than it appears in the catalogue image.
