supported on a short foot ring, covered with an unctuous black-brown glaze painted with irregular metallic purplish 'oil-spots', stopping short of the foot to leave an unglazed area covered with dark brown slip

Purchased in Tokyo, 1990.
Condition
The bowl has been broken in half and reattached with a 1.3 cm chip to the rim. There are minute chips to the foot. Overall with expected minor firing imperfections.
