Description

of slender baluster form, rising from a deep countersunk base to a waisted neck and lipped rim, covered overall with a thick green glaze with a web-like network of crackle, the glaze stopping above the footrim revealing the unglazed stoneware body burnt orange in the firing, Japanese wood box (3)

Condition

There are two hairlines to the foot, both extending upward to the sides and into the base. There are scattered minute chips around the foot ring. There is a 1.5 cm firing crack to the mid-section of the body, and another measuring 0.6 cm to the opposite side. The vase with minor firing imperfections, as can be expected.
