the center decorated with a central medallion of double incised outline enclosing two scaly, sinuous five-clawed dragons contesting a 'flaming pearl' amidst clouds and flames, surrounded by a band of peony, chrysanthemum, prunus, camellia and lotus sprays in the cavetto, the exterior with four further dragons in pursuit of 'flaming pearls', all incised under the glaze and reserved on a rich egg yolk-yellow ground, six-character mark in underglaze blue within a double circle

Christie's London, 11th May 2010, lot 235. 

Condition

There is a crack to the rim approx. 1 in. (2.5 cm) long, with associated clear overspray approx. 3 in., (7.6 cm) long, visible under blacklight. There is also a horizontal glaze crack just above the footrim on the exterior, approx. 1 1/8 in., (2.8 cm) long. There is a firing flaw just below the rim on the exterior approx. 3/8 in., (1 cm) long.
