of archaistic gu form, the splayed foot rising to a slightly convex middle section and to a wide trumpet mouth, the top section vibrantly painted with a scene from Wang Shifu's Xixiang ji (Romance of the West Chamber) depicting Cui Yingying and her maid, Hong Niang, bidding farewell to Zhang, the mid-section with a  continuous landscape, the lowest register with a seated scholar and attendant, the base with an apocryphal Jiajing mark

Condition

The vase is in good condition. There is a tiny chip to the foot ring with extending to an associated v-shaped incipient chip. There is also a very small glazed over indentation at the base. The surface with expected wear.
