each stoutly potted of baluster form, well-painted with a pair of phoenix perched on rockwork issuing lavish leafy peony blooms, the fitted domed cover with pointed knop and painted with a pair of sparrows and further flowers emerging from rockwork, all boldly rendered in underglaze blue with iron-red, green, yellow, aubergine enamels and gilt, the flat base unglazed (4)

Condition

The jars and covers in overall good condition. One cover with a chip to the inner rim. There is an approximate 1 1/4 inch glaze flaw to the base of one vase. There is expected wear to the surface, the overglaze enamels and gilt as well as minor fritting to the rims.
