  • Silk
with side opening, standing collar and layered sleeves, the silk ground woven with roundels enclosing peonies, the black borders and ivory sleeve bands worked in satin stitch with peonies, begonias and orchids, bordered with woven floral ribbon and piping, the sleeves edged in lace

Condition

There are stains and tears under the arms. The sleeves have been modified. The turquoise piping at the back of the collar is frayed, and the collar may have been modified. The color is faded overall, but more noticeable on the shoulders. There are a few scattered stain spots, and a squiggle on the back of the sleeve. The robe is unlined and Suzhou style Chinese numerals 51 14 have been written on the hem of the inside flap.
