written in gilt and ink on a woven silk brocade, the edict, an imperial promotion conferred upon an official, the text arranged in standard form reading from right to left in kaishu (regular script) and repeated in Manchu script reading from left to right and dated to the 50th year of the Qianlong Reign, corresponding to 1785

There is general surface wear, fading to the inscription and textile, frayed threads and minor areas of wear, in consistent with age. The edict is not mounted, with both ends cut and edges with frayed open threads.
