of rectangular form, the hinged stepped cover finely and densely carved and undercut with a scene of figures engaged in leisurely pursuits in a bustling city with pavilions, pagodas and boats, the sides similarly carved and set with a pair of brass loop handles and a lock, the interior with lift out tray divided into compartments with various sewing components, all supported on a separate stand raised on four paw feet joined by a leafy floral scroll apron

Condition

This box is in reasonably good condition, but there is damage and loss to one corner of the cover (1cm by 1.5cm) and the another area 1.5cm by 1cm below this. The central panel to the cover has a split running through the centre of it and has come loose due to some warping. The tray to the interior is also quite difficult to remove due to some warping. The stand has become separated from the box and has one painted wood replacement foot. There is also some more minor losses to a couple of the upper panels to the edges and to one corner of the base.
