Description

  • gilt bronze
the figure seated in dyhanasana, the right hand in bhumisparsa and the left in dhyanamudra, wearing a dhoti, embroidered with foliage to the hems, the face with a serene expression flanked by pendulous ears, the hair tied in tight curls

Sotheby's Hong Kong, 28th April 1998, lot 931.

Condition

There is a 6cm by 3mm crack/break to the back of the neck as well as a 6cm long dent to the bottom of the reverse, with an associated 1cm long crack. The base plate and sutras are missing and there are a number of nicks and scratches to the surface throughout as well some areas of rubbing to the gilding.
