carved from a large boulder depicting a mountainous landscape formed from jagged rockwork lined with leafy shrubs, the front face depicting a scholar inscribing onto the rock face beside an attendant holding an inkstone, the reverse with overhanging rockwork and leafy shrubs, the stone of a pale celadon tone with russet veining
Condition
The boulder is in overall good condition. There are multiple natural stained fissures in the stone which has been incorporated into the design, with associated small chips and bruises to the extremities. The stone is more green in colour than the catalogue illustration would suggest.
