the rounded sides rising from a concave base to a domed cover curving to the centre to a central recess, decorated with shaped panels of butterflies amongst lotus, peony, prunus and chrysanthemum amongst pierced rockwork on a diaper ground

There are numerous small areas of enamel infill across the surface. The enamels with general crazing, predominantly on the turquoise ground. There is a casting flaw/crack to the rim. The gilding to the interior and rims are worn in places. The gilding around the rim may have been retouched. There are minor dents and scratches throughout.
