the large translucent stone boldly worked in the form of a tall single-masted boat with sail and rigging details picked out, an oarsman at the helm depicted resting while two others continue rowing steadily, with the captain wrapped in a cape and steering from the stern, the stone of an even white colour, wood stand

Condition
The carving is in overall good condition except for minor areas of bruising and minute nicks to the fragile extremities. The carving is consolidated to the stand with a metal rod. The catalogue illustration is a tinge more grey than the actual colour of the stone.
