Description
- porcelain
finely potted with a short foot rising to shallow rounded sides and an everted rim, painted on the interior with a double-circle enclosing a phoenix between cloud scrolls with wings outstretched and flowing tail feathers, the exterior with two five-clawed dragons in pursuit of 'flaming pearls', the detail picked out in the wucai palette, the base inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character reign mark within a double-circle
Condition
There is a restored crescent-shaped flake of approx. 0.2 by 0.9 cm to the footring, adjacent to two retouched hairline cracks of approx. 1 cm. The bowl also has a minute glaze flake to the interior below the rim, as well as some minor original imperfections, such as firing lines, body lines and unevenness of glaze especially to the outer footring. There are also some expected surface scratches, but the enamels have been generally well preserved.
