Description

  • Léon Hatot
  • Desk Clock, model No. 73916
  • with maker's mark ATO
  • frosted glass and patinated metal

Provenance

Sotheby's New York, June 2, 2002, lot 36

Condition

Overall in good condition. A few light surface irregularities and minor air bubbles and burst air bubbles inherent to the material and production. Three of the corners with minute chips, consistent with age and gentle use, the largest one measuring approximately 1/8 x 1/8 in to the upper proper right corner. The fixation of the clock system with associated minor abrasions to the glass on each side of the dial, visible on catalogue illustration. The clock hands are slightly bent and present with some traces of wear. The system of the clock has been later replaced, and has not been checked for functionality. A highly sculptural Art Deco clock that presents wonderfully in person.
