Condition
Overall in very good original condition. The bronze surfaces present some light surface scratches and rubbing to the finish consistent with gentle use and handling. With a consistent saturated tone to patina throughout. With evidence of rubbing and minor discoloration to the handles and key as a result of gentle use.
The parchment paneling throughout shows shallow surface scratches and some minor surface dirt consistent with age and gentle use. The parchment seams to the top and top of the lower shelf with some light discoloration and scattered surface dirt. The front of the proper right drawer with an area of concentrated surface scratching about 1 ½ inch in triangular shape and with some shallower surface scratches consistent with gentle handling. The interior parchment edge of drawers with minor concentrated rubbing not visible when drawers are closed.
The top surface of the lower shelf with one possible very minor area of restoration to the seam on the lower portion of the proper right side of the console. The proper right side of the lower shelf with one small circular area of discoloration and a loss of the top layer of the parchment paneling with a darker coloration around the circumference.
The reverse is finished and displays shallow surface scratches and some light rubbing. The piece presents with a more nuanced brown patina than shown in the catalogue illustration. A deeply sculptural work which presents strongly when viewed in person.
