Description

  • Harry Bertoia
  • "Spray" Sculpture
  • stainless steel and chromium plated steel

Provenance

Acquired by the present owner, circa 1972

Condition

Overall in very good original condition. This sculptural was acquired from close to the date it was completed and the current condition demonstrates the care and attention of the prior owner. The steel spray elements are in very good condition with some minor surface dirt and very light isolated spots of oxidation consistent with the natural aging process of the material. Approximately eight of the rods with very minor kinks that are only visible on very close inspection. The base with a few areas of discoloration to the top that are consistent with the aging process of the material. For the purposes of transport, the spray portion of the sculpture can be removed from the base and the wires bundled. A wonderful highly dynamic work by the artist that has a deeply tactile sense when viewed in person.
