Description

  • American Art Nouveau Chandelier
  • leaded glass and patinated metal

Provenance

Sandra van den Broek, New York

Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 40 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout, which is a relatively low number when taking into account the vast number of individual glass tiles required for this monumental and complex design. A few of the glass tiles with very small and minor edge flecks along the adjacent contours of the shade leading and adjacent to the hairlines. Two glass tiles with hairlines that appear to have been previously stabilized. The shade with surface soiling around the perimeter contours of the lead lines. The patinated metal hardware shows surface wear, surface soiling and discoloration consistent with age and use. The ceiling cap, chains and socket cluster appear to be original and undisturbed. The chandelier presents beautifully in person with great scale and a fully saturated range of colors.
