The print is in generally very good condition. There are a few indentations in the right half of the image visible in raking light only. There are a few handling crease in the print. There is some scattered chipping along all edges of the print. 'A STAR IS BORN' is written in pencil on the reverse of the print. There are a few scattered handling marks on the reverse of the print. The collection stamp reads 'PRINTED UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF FRANCESCO SCAVULLO FROM THE COLLECTION OF SEAN BYRNES' on the reverse.

Scavullo produced this image for the film A Star is Born. The producer of the film Jon Peters must have been quite taken by the photographer’s vision because he applied it to nearly every promotional element created for the movie.
