Comprising: a brooch, designed as a hansom cab, set with a calibré-cut sapphire and rubies; and a powder compact decorated with a similar motif, case measuring approximately 70 x 70 x 10mm, each signed Mellerio dits Meller, numbered, French assay and maker's marks, pouch stamped Mellerio dits Meller.

Condition

Rubies of Burmese origin cannot be imported into the US; this piece may contain a ruby of Burmese origin and therefore may not be able to be imported into the US. Certification of non-Burmese origin is required before the import of rubies into the US. Please see our Important Notices and contact the jewellery department for further information. French assay marks for 18 carat gold. Both signed Mellerio dits Meller. Case numbered 897D, inscribed Déposé Paris. Case with maker's marks SAM, brooch with indistinct marks. Rubies and sapphires with good saturation. Case clasp damages, could benefit from attention by a professional jeweller. Scratches and tarnish to metal consistent with age and wear. Brooch in good condition.
