- porcelain
of archaic bronze form, the central globular section rising from a tall spreading foot to a broad tall flaring neck, painted around the body in rich cobalt-blue tones with large archaistic taotie masks divided at the central and lower section by four high relief vertical flanges
Condition
One vase with the rim broken into approximately eight pieces and restuck, with associated smaller losses and traces of yellowed glue. The other vase with a 3.5cm hairline crack to the bottom of the foot, running across the chipped footrim, and continuing onto the base (4.5cm). Both vases lean slightly. There are fritting/chips to the raised flanges. Minor glaze firing imperfections such as burst glaze bubbles, iron spots, and firing cracks.
