Description

  • porcelain
each with deep rounded sides rising from on a tall foot, the exterior incised and painted in green enamel with birds amidst fruiting peach trees issuing from rockwork, below a double line border at the rim, all reserved against a yellow enamel ground, the marks inscribed in aubergine enamel to the slightly concave bases

Condition

One bowl has a triangular section of the rim broken and restuck, with associated restoration. There are three rim cracks at 12, 1 and 6o'clock positions, measuring approx. 3.5, 3 and 4.5cm long. There is a glaze line and colour inconsistencies about 1cm down the interior rim. The other bowl has six rim cracks at 1, 2, 6, 9, 10 and 11o'clock positions, measuring approx. 5, 3.5, 6.5, 4, 2.3, 3.5cm respectively. There are associated chips and restoration around these cracks. There is a glaze line and colour inconsistencies about 0.5cm down the interior rim. Both bowls with a slightly domed centre. Minor glaze firing imperfections, enamel wear and surface scratches.
