Description

  • Cloisonne enamel, gilt copper
the ovoid body rising from a stepped foot to a knopped waisted neck, applied with a loop handle on one side, the mouth rim extended gently forming the spout, brightly decorated overall with large lotus blooms borne on meandering leafy strapwork, all divided by bands of peony sprigs, florets, ruyi and flame borders, the foot and rim gilt

Condition

The ewer is in good condition with the exception of restoration to approximately half of the enamels on the handle and a circa 5 x 4cm., area to the middle of the body, characteristic pitting and very minor rubbing to the gilded decoration.
