Description

  • Cloisonne enamel
of square section, the pear-shaped body rising from a spreading foot to a flared rim, the shoulders flanked by a pair of gilt-bronze animal mask handles, brightly decorated against a turquoise ground to each facet of the body with alternate scenes of pairs of cranes and peacocks in lush garden settings, framed above by pairs of confronted kui dragons, encircled at the neck by upright lappets and clouds, the foot decorated with horses galloping amongst flame wisps above crested waves, all divided by floral bands, the rims gilt

Condition

This vase is in good condition, but there is some old repairs to the interior walls, especially to the neck on one side. There is some nicks to the rim and sides and some areas of loss of gilding to the rim to these areas. There are some areas of minor loss of enamel throughout.
