Description

  • Cloisonne enamel, gilt copper
the flattened circular body rising from a gilt oval foot to a cylindrical neck with lipped rim, flanked by a pair of gilt ruyi handles, the exterior brightly decorated on each face with a coiled dragon amongst large lotus blooms borne on meandering leafy stems, all reserved on a mottled white ground

Condition

Restoration to some of the enamels, including to an area measuring approximately 50mm by 20mm cutting across the body of the dragon to one side. The infill discoloured and visible with the naked eye. Further, more minor areas of infill elsewhere. With characteristic pitting and shallow flakes to the enamels elsewhere. Wear to gilt-bronze mounts.
