of square form, the top part divided into five open compartments, framing a drawer decorated with precious objects, all above a pair of cabinets with double doors carved with scholars in a landscape, the sides framed by rectangular panels enclosing precious objects, all divided by keyfret borders, the top with meandering lotus sprays amongst interlocking square scrolls against a cellular diaper ground, the interior and reverse lacquered black

The lacquer cabinet has small areas of loss not limited to the following: 11 x 1cm., to the top right front corner; 17.5 x 1cm., to the top right side; 6 x 1cm., to the bottom edge of the front left foot; 5cm., to the border of the bottom edge of the left door; 1.5cm., of the border to the top left of the left door; two 3cm., sections at the bottom of the right door; a 6 and 5cm., section of the border at the top of the right door; loss to the lacquer on the rear right foot; 1cm., loss to the left side bottom edge of the drawer surround; 1 and 1,5cm., wide shallow chips to the top of the right rear edge; and scratches to the black lacquer on the back.
