Description

  • pottery
of archaic form, the globular body rising from a splayed foot, with a tall cylindrical neck set to each side with solid lug handles, the body moulded with four chilong reserved against a ground of S-shaped spirals, below a key-fret border, the neck with two wide friezes of S-shaped spirals above a lappet band, the base inscribed Tian [ ] qin ke chuan zao (Made by Qin Kechuan)

Condition

This rare vase is in good condition with the exception of some minor nibbles around the rim and foot, a 7mm., shallow chip to the foot and a darker discolouration to one side of the vessel probably due to misfiring.
