first edition, rare variant and a presentation copy.  The present copy retains the mistake of crediting authorship to Conrad and Hueffer for The Secret Agent on the verso of the half-title. This error was largely caught and corrected with a cancel leaf. The fact that this copy bears an ink "Presentation copy" stamp on the title page might account for how a copy in blue cloth escaped intact, it must have been one of the very first issued.
