 8vo (172 x 102 mm). Contemporary dark brown straight-grained morocco, decorated in blind and gilt, a.e.g.; very slight rubbing.

first edition of the author's first book, a strong association copy. Signed on the front pastedown by Maria Edgworth, the author's aunt. Suppressed by the author with apparent success as no copy has been at auction since the present copy's last appearance in the H. Bradley Martin sale in 1990.
