Catalogue Note

Queen Chand was part of Dulac's series Follies that Destroyed Famous Queens. It appeared on the cover of American Weekly on 27 May 1934.  Other monarchs in series included Seiramis, Dido, Isabella of Bavaria, Mary Queen of Scots (see next lot), and Marie Antoinette.
