A fine example of an Art Nouveau binding by Louis Dezé, that were very popular in France in the late 19th-century, especially from the Ecole de Nancy with famous artists like Victor Prouvé and René Weiner.
Louis Dezé was a French painter, bookbinder and bibliographer. He was a huge admirer of Gustave Doré and wrote the first catalogue raisonné of his works ("Gustave Doré - Bibliographie et catalogue complet de l'oeuvre. Paris: Editions Marcel Seheur, 1930).
