author's own copy with extensive notes and revsions. Wells, impelled by his supporter Swinburne, undertook the revision and enlargement of his dramatic poem, between 1876 and 1878. He has altered the title to "Sephenath-Phaanech" and dedicated it to R. H. Horne. "My First Friend in 1810 and My Last Friend in 1878." In some cases single words are altered, in others whole pages and slips are inserted totaling more than 100 pages of additional manuscript text.
