Catalogue Note

first edition,  in the original boards, with a good association, the "Tighe" ownership signature on the endpaper refers to George William Tighe, who hosted Margaret Jane, Countess of Mountcashell, for several years at Pisa, where they became close friends to Shelley. The present volume remained by descent in Lady Mountcashell's family until it was sold in our London rooms in 1964. This is the second issue, the contents leaf being a cancel. Two minor pen corrections on pages 211 and 220 are in an unidentified hand. When found in boards, examples are either restored or in poor condition.
