Catalogue Note

THE DEDICATION COPY. The work is dedicated by the London Missionary Society to the king.

The first volume is entirely devoted to Tyerman and Bennet's Pacific voyages, visiting Tahiti, the Leeward, Hawaiian and other islands. Thereafter they travelled to New Zealand and Australia, Java, Singapore, China and India. Tyerman died on the return journey in 1828 in Madagascar.
