Catalogue Note
The author was a naval Commodore and advisor to the Pitt administration on potential sites for a convict settlement, including Botany Bay. The letters in volume 1 are addressed from Madras, Calcutta, Ceylon, St Helena and elsewhere; in volume 2 from New York, various West Indian islands, Lisbon, and elsewhere.
