Catalogue Note

"This work is in part supplementary to the English edition of Exquemelin’s Bucaniers of America, 1684, and in part a vindication of the English, especially Capt. Henry Morgan, from the aspersions of that writer ... For two and half years, Sharp's party of French and English buccaneers ranged up and down the western coast of South America, sacking and burning towns, capturing ships, ransoming and killing, often quarreling among themselves and gradually dwindling in number until it was no longer possible to carry on against the Spanish" (Hill).
