Catalogue Note

Nuttall, formerly a printer in Liverpool, emigrated to America in 1808. He became an experienced botanist having accompanied the Scottish naturalist John Bradbury on his travels in the Missouri Territory (see Exploration and Discovery Part I, 27 March 2014, lot 166). Here he describes his own exploration of an area then little known.
