Catalogue Note

PRESENTATION COPY, from James Napier, brother of the author, and publisher of the book, inscribed "To Isabella Rigby with her Uncle Jas R. Napiers love".

Privately printed account of the expedition under Captain Cadell in 1867 which crossed the Gulf of Carpentaria from Cape York and explored the Liverpool River. After a failed first attempt to find the mouth of the Roper River the party returned to Burketown; going back to Maria Island the Roper was found.
