Catalogue Note

RARE. The Firefly was the supply ship for the expedition sent from Brisbane to search for Burke and Wills. She encountered bad weather and was wrecked on Sir Charles Hardy's Island. This slim work justifies the captain's conduct.

Loosely inserted is a note stating that this copy was purchased from a descendant of F.O. Handfield, who was mate on board the Victoria which also took part in the search expedition. It contains a number of his pencil notes and markings.
