Catalogue Note

Published after the discovery of Franklin's party by M'Clintock in 1859, this pamphlet recaps King's experience in Arctic exploration and the recommendations he made over previous years for the rescue of Franklin (also found in The Franklin Expedition from First to Last, lot 728). This provides justification for his appeal that a party should be sent out "for the purpose of completing the search for the remains, and possible survivors, of The Franklin Expedition". RARE.
